A documentary prepared by IAA Numismatist Robert Kool about the intriguing opening of a fabulous gold coin hoard discovered inside a small jar in excavations in Ramla, Israel.

    I was surprised they used metal tweezers to pick the gold coins out of the jar.....seems like they'd easily damage soft gold.

    Yes, funny in that so much care and technology was used and then the objects of study rather crudely handled. Whose on first? More technology does not mean more common sense I fear...

    To think that jar could have been lost in an earthquake or possibly stashed away to be hidden from invaders.

    wow - very cool! thanks for posting. I was mesmerized by this video.

    as to the comment about metal tweezers - I would assume they had something on the ends that was softer and wouldn't damage the coins.
