    I wonder why.

Congratulations to all of you who just had to save $3 on a $100 card deal. You should all be proud.

Because there are tons of legitimate uses for it. image

I was surprised they ever waived the fee for gifting from a non-paypal account(i.e. bank account). I suspect they will go back to allowing free transfers from paypal account to paypal account as it costs them nothing.

Your source? I just gifted a relative and had no fees 5 minutes ago.

Link? I couldn't find any info on that at Paypal. Why would it matter to them who pays the fees? On a gift payment, the sender pays the fees and not the receiver.

Not true. On a gift payment, there are no fees. Or were none, if there was a change today.

Maybe I was wrong, but I don't think I was. I thought the sender has always paid for the fees on gift payments.

Sender only pays fee if payment method is by credit card.

I think I jumped the gun a bit. I usually have a balance when I do that. If you have enough money in your PAYPAL account then it probably doesn't charge any fees. Sorry about all the confusion.

  • Always has charged fees if backed by CC... Never if PP balance (YOU SHOULD NEVER EVER BE SENDING GIFT BY PP BALANCE YOU ARE BAD IF YOU DO THIS)

    Back it with your bank.
  • Your fee: $0.00 USD
    Your total charge:

I just tested the system...no charge on sending gifts...( as long as you have the funds in your account )

    I don't sell on ebay.

I have sent "gift" money to people in need - i.e. - fund raisers.

If paypal has stopped it - that's disappointing - but I'm guessing it was terribly abused - and "that" is a shame.

It's interesting to read about the wax resealers, card trimmers & alterers, fake autograph sellers, scamming buyers on ebay, etc. All charlatans of the first water.
It's only Paypal that it is ok to cheat because of course they make enough money already.

Paypal also offers a payment owed option to send payment to another party for a payment owed and there is no fee as long as you don't fund the payment by CC. If paypal didn't expect you to use such options, they wouldn't offer said option. The sympathy for paypal is really misguided.

You think that Paypal developed Paypal Gift with the idea that that it was to be used for commerce by sellers to skirt fees.
I am misguided I didn't realize that they intended for their services to be used for free.
Thanks for clearing that up for me.

I have no sympathy for Paypal, it's just a business like any other.

Who said anything about paypal gift? I was talking about the payment owed option. Put away the paypal pompoms and read before you respond next time.

So when you said "options" (meaning more than one) you really expected everyone to just know you meant payment owed only?

    Evening,

After I pay my E-Bay/Paypal Invoice every month to the tune of Hundreds and Hundreds of Dollars, sometimes a Thousand+ (And lest I be Misquoted, my issue is not about paying for a service, its about paying a RICO Exhorbinant amount for a service...%18-23 Average, With the playing field of how I must conform, for the right to give them my money, changing on almost a weekly basis, Lets be Clear really), I do sit down and light a Candle for absolution for the few hundred in Fees I circumvent in any Way, Shape or Manner that I can and will always do to screw them out of!!

So anybody who wants to blindly Overpay for a service that has outgrown its usefullness and acts as a Bully at best, lets put this into context. If you are so whollier than thou and wish do to the right thing, then I have several hundred PSA Cards, Multi-Sport, that I have $4-7 of grading fees into, but can't give away on Feebay for .99 cents. So how about you do the right thing and buy them at 4 each $20 lot delivered. Just PM me on how many lots you want!!

    Thanks

Hhmag, I specified the payment owed option in my very first sentence. Im guessing by your response that you're not familiar with that option in the first place

No, that is incorrect. When you state a specific option in a previous sentence and go on to say "if X didn't expect you to use SUCH options," it should be apparent that I am referring back to said specific option. At no point in my post did I ever refer or mention the gift option.

if you are so unhappy with paypal and ebay....and often complain about it...then why not close your ebay store and your paypal account? then open a website of your own and get a merchant credit card account or just take checks/money orders and not credit cards at all. you seem to enjoy making money from ebay/paypal services but also like complaining....A LOT

He doesn't even know how to post a link. In fact, I'll wager that 1/2 the reason he doesn't use paypal shipping is because he's never figured out how to navigate it. Given this, do you really think he's capable of actually opening his own online store?
