Bought a few sets from BBCX for the first time....

I bought a sealed set of the 1984 Topps Traded Tiffany set as this was one of the only 80's sets I am missing. I also think the Dwight Gooden for a time is going to pop big!

Great looking set of cards and this one was off centered to the right.

I bought two sets of the 1989 Fleer Glossy

You guys rave on here about the service level and I was very pleased. Very nice packaging and safely shipped. I paid in seperate invoices and they adjusted the shipping which I appreciate.

The first 89 Fleer Glossy was stuck together and took 30 minutes to break. There were only a few cards impacted but the set had bad centering and there is nothing you can do about that.

The second set I had a much easier time looking through and found the centering throughout to be better. It seems with these you are either on or off.

If you guys want to see more of the key cards I will scan them and post.

I think the gooden looks to be an 8 due to centering..

Yes certainly no higher then an 8. You win some you lose some.

The second Griffey is real nice and there are a few other cards that look good.

Sadly, the Griffeys are diamond cut, which is pretty normal with the issue... To confirm, it is most noticeable when looking at the top and bottom borders on the reverse...

When I was looking at them something seemed off.

Most likely you are correct. They look very strong in terms of eye apeal but technically they may not make the grade.

I played three lotto tickets and it looks like none hit. Maybe next time.

sorry.. didn't mean to sound crappy about the grade..

I just didn't understand. " I also think the Dwight Gooden for a time is going to pop big!"

I thought you meant it was going to pull a 10
I have reread it 12 times and still don't understand it... lol

This Dwight is not popping at all. This is an 8 at most.

A PSA 10 will pop. There are 10 right now. Mark my words a 1984 Topps Traded Tiffany Dwight Gooden PSA 10 will move higher.

Not to be difficult, but this in no way elucidates the point you made in the OP.

Thanks for sharing and very nice sets overall. Those are sets I will be adding to my collection also. As for investment purposes, the Griffey spiked while he was active and won't see those prices again. The Gooden will always have a following for two reasons, Mets fans and what drugs can do to you. The eighties had cocaine, the 90's steroids.

When I mention for a time I think Dwight Gooden is going to pop I am referencing the 1984 Topps Traded Tiffany.

In this quote I am making referance to the fact my card is off centered.

Not sure how I was not clear that the card in general was going to pick up but my copy was off centered.

I think the Gooden pulls a 9. Real sharp corners and I think the centering is good enough for the 9.

I will give you VCP 8 for it now image (Inside joke as Dpeck never wants to sell me anything. I accuse him of being a hoarder!)

I am a hoarder for the most part.

If you find a good stock buy a lot of shares.

    Same thing with cards.

Yeah, and it doesn't make it any more clear either.

The 1984 Topps Traded Tiffany Dwight Gooden is going up. This card has been in a bear market for ever and you will soon see the prices will be higher in almost all grades.

Just like the 82 Hogan and 86 Tyson this is going to grab hold.

Yeah, after all he did escape with probation in last month's child endangerment/cocaine possession case.
Just think - if he was sentenced to jail time, the bear market may have continued.

I think the 84 Fleer Update is the Gooden to own
  • Dpeck100Dpeck100 Posts: 10,912 ✭✭✭✭✭
I think both are the card to own. This is a much tougher set to find and becuase of the lack of stars is a real gamble in sealed condition. This makes it even harder to find in high grade.

The 1984 Fleer has a larger production and much more star power so many sets have been busted.

I think a PSA 10 Topps Tiffany will sell for more then the 1984 Fleer Update that recently sold for $196+ shipping

IMO one of the best parts of dealing with BBC is adding cheapish sets/boxes to orders to supplement a big purchase. With their inventory, I usually can't help but add a few oddball items for the hell of it. $15 here and $20 there can turn into a lot of fun.

I am going to sub a few more from these set breaks in hopes of scoring another win.
