Not a Good Day for Former Royals

You know it's bad when Vin Mazzaro giving up 14 earned runs in three innings of work is the best news of the day. He counts as a former Royal since he got sent to the minors after the game. You've probably heard about Harmon Killebrew passing away...he finished out his career in KC. Now it's come out that Paul Splittorff is battling cancer and is not expected to make it past the week. Splitt was one of my favorite players to watch while growing up, and I always loved his cards with the big goofy looking square glasses. Hope he somehow beats the odds, but it's not sounding good.

Cancer sucks, plain and simple. Lost my dad to cancer last year.

That being said, listening to the Tribe pummel KC yesterday was just too much fun. image

The Royals are tough this year though. Definitely wasn't expecting last night's outcome, but you guys lost your starter in the first inning. Those nail biters were fun to listen to the last time the Tribe was in KC a few weeks ago.

Back in the mid 90's David Glass used his Gold-plated Wal-Mart shovel and dug a franchise hole so deep that the Royals are just now beginning to see the top.

My boy asked me if ten runs in one inning was usual for a team ---- I told him to get used to it....you're a Royals fan.

I also hear Kyle Davies is being shopped-around for a mini-keg of Budweiser - no takers as of yet.

Year 13 of a 5-year plan! I'll believe the hype when the trophy is in our hands.

Royal-family prayers to Split and his family also - it has been good to see him back in the broadcast booth lately!

    And counting.

They way the Pirates are hitting, this could be their worst year yet.

I really had the utmost respect for Yost as a coach and manager throughout his very successful career. But HOW do you leave your young pitcher out there to get shelled like that?? They just had the day off (thanks to our Motown rain saving them from a sweep), so the entire staff was rested!!
