Calling Mr P

I havnt been here long enough to know who or where best to ask , i recoqnise Mr Potatohead is no slouch when it comes to coin bidders on the bay and with that in mind may i address two different issues which may ultimately benefit sellers of World coins on ebay.

First off , lets say a seller sends a coin prior to payment based on a buyers sterling feedback of well over 500 transactions. Its mailed delivery confirmation and shows delivered long ago. The seller messages the buyer twice to no reply , opens a non payer case after 7 days based on the coin being delivered and buyers feedback showing newer transactions, lots of them.
Now , i suspect what the buyer might do is wait until the final minute and pay and give me a neg for opening a non payment and i also think had every intention of not paying once the coin was in hand. A thief in other words. If payment is not made and the case closed in my favour can either of us leave feedback ?

Secondly i'm getting messsages from what is supposedly ebay ( a member ) who ive blocked from bidding based on its a US only auction and the bidder is showing as in China with 1 feedback that says "no contact,no payment" the thing about the messages coming to my email is after ebay it has two question marks and i havnt seen that before.
For example the email header is ebay??member : question about shipping. Is that normal ? The messages are also in my ebay messages , i just dont get the question marks.

Thanks in advance to all who feel able to reply image

Why would you send the coin before payment? It is one thing to do it on this forum, but to a buyer on ebay I think is just plain crazy.

As for an answer to your second question, I would not unblock the ebay member from China and I would send a copy of the email to ebay.

    Good luck with everything.

Hi , thanks for reply. It's not the first time ive sent coins prior to payment , it's never been an issue and in fact has stood me in good stead with buyers who leave marvelous feedback and ensure i have the top marks making me a trusted seller with discounts etc.
What i base it on is a buyers activity , i can't make it to a post office every day and with auctions ending in the evening i get them sent the next morning. With this buyer having almost 600 feedbacks almost all coins and great feedback at that i didnt see it as an issue. Most people i believe are basically honest.I do not tell the buyers ive sent the coin , i dont do that until payment is made and then leave feedback and tracking numbers.
Uusally payments are all made before delivery is made in reality as the USPS takes a day or two,i don't always mail in advance but with feedback like this buyers i felt it a safe enough proposition.
There is no way the buyer isnt aware as ive mssaged twice prior to the unpaid notice , so thats 3 messages recieved plus i added the racking number to the item which again sends a message to email , thats 4.
Add to that ebays notice of winning the auction , an invoice as well is 6 messages to do with this, all ignored.

No. 1: Don't know what the buyer is up to here at all, but as long as he responds through eBay to any non-payment claim, he will be able to leave feedback. Unless eBay changed the rules again. image

No. 2: I suspect the question mark thing relates to the bidder being in China. I have gotten a number of eBay emails from Chinese bidders that had question marks in them- I suppose there are some characters that do not translate from the Chinese site to the US one.

At least, that's what I think. image

Thanks Mr P , oddly it isnt a he , its a she image , i don't know what to think either other than she is a real piece of work , i noticed the last feedback left was a bright red neg , i didnt look to see what that was for or if it was justified , i got the notion it wasn't from what little i read.

Thanks for clearing up the Chinese bidder query too , i can't really unblock him due to his feedback being a warning of non payer , i don't really understand why he is bidding on a basically low value cupra nickel crown sized coin either.

I tried sending stuff before receiving payment a while back. I never got burned like this, but I found it to be too complicated, keeping track of things. Get paid/send coin is a much simpler system- if the coin is gone, I've obviously already been paid. The other way, I have to keep checking my records to see where things stand.
  • I don't know if i'll let this change the way i do things Mr P , if i was closer to a post office i surely would.Ive always used delivery confirmation even before it was mandatory and i keep the slips with customers name until feedback is left.Ive not had any issues before and i find buyers appreciate rapid shipping and point it out in feedback.
It's looking like the buyer reckons it worth the unpaid strike to keep the coin for free.If it does come to that and the unpaid case goes unresponded am i still able to leave feedback , and is the buyer ?

I'm not suggesting you change the way you do things- I was just posting my thoughts on the subject. As far as feedback goes, my understanding is that, as long as the buyer responds to any dispute messages received, she will be able to leave feedback as she wishes. As the seller, of course, there is not much you can do with feedback for her, as a "negative positive" is against eBay policies.
  • I guess i'll see how it goes , thanks Mr P for your sound advice , i know you werent suggesting i alter how i do things , just me thinking out loud i guess , theres a coin community on ebay so she'll be outed there if she keeps playing funny buggers , thanks again image
