New Prize Sovereign

Wanted to show off my new prize:
1913-C Sovereign MS63 PCGS
Mintage 3,717 pieces, second in rarity among Canadian sovereigns only to the legendary 1916-C. Probably a way underrated coin, too, like a lot of Canadian issues.

Well, just Love coins, period.
<< <i>Wow! I like that coin. I have been trying to look through St. James catalogs for this, as I think I remember it pre-slabbed from either Sale #3 or #5, but it was a bit earlier one at that. RobP who is occasionally on these boards may know the answer as he seems to keep every catalog made and helpped me greatly on an old Glendinning reference... >>
It looks like St. James's 4 lot 427 based on the colouration below George's hand, that inside the rim at 3 o'clock and the mark above the streamer. I can't tie the obverse in with anything concrete though. It was graded EF or better which is about right for a 63. There was another 1913C in sale 5 (lot 721) which had a scratch across the head from the ear to D. There was no 1913C in St. James's 3.

<< <i>I was looking at some notes - worthless largely - and think I see that the St. James Auction of May 2006 had a lot 461 - RobP can you check that one? >>
As you might surmise, in a 726 lot sale there was indeed a lot 461 - but it was a 1701 guinea. You probably mean sale 16, 7th Dec. 2010
Right. 1913C sovereigns in St. James' sales.
2/709 edge nicks aEF
4/427 EF or better
5/721 about uncirculated (scratch)
7/684 EF
10/589 EF
14/467 lightly wiped, o/w aEF
16/461 about mint state
As far as I can make out, that's it for St.James' sales.
Edited for faulty lot number info re sale 4
