Is there any point in checking a submission throughout the day?

I sent in a small sub for the $8/15-day special, received 4/26. Mostly oddball and rare variation items, two of which I've been told they won't grade.
I probably check the submission 10 times a day the last few days. Does this info change all day, or do they submit completed sub info only at the end (or beginning) of the day?
The "we don't grade" items were the meat of my order and I'm really disappointed that I am going to have to wait for them to get back and then pay and wait with BGS to grade these, but my subscription is ending soon and I have another batch (20+) of items that I want to grade but am hesitant to re-up with them if PSA is going to wait until the last day to grade my items.

I suppose that checking 10 times a day for my $5 100-card special rec'd 4/28 is even more futile

Then I cross my fingers and look at the grades.
I find myself checking constantly too when I know a sub could be popping anytime.

<< <i>mine almost always pop around 6:00pm central time and normally on Fridays. >>

I do notice that if poppage occurs I get an email about the grades being available the next day. Therefore, checking 10, 20, or more times, which I seem to always do does give you a benefit. You should be able to see the grades before you get an email about it. When I log on here I check for poppage first. I usually check it again to make sure they aren't there. Lol!!

<< <i>I have submitted quite a bit, and every single pop was between 5:30 -6:00 west coast time. >>
I have subbed several Hundred times, and mine always Pop shortly after I give up! I have 4 subs in now and haven't seen anything in weeks, but then again I keep checking!! I need to give Up!!

It is always a wild feeling when it goes from your order is still being processed to bam there they are.

Carly Simon is singin' in my head and the bottle o' catsup commercial just plays over and over and over and.......it finally spills out.
With card grading you can turn a $10 card into a $100 card. When the clock is in the final countdown I honestly don't know how you could not look constantly.
There are some who get cards graded for authenticity but most get them graded for resale value. Once they pop it is official no matter what the outcome. If you get that high grade you were looking for it is either a great card in your personal collection or currency which ever you choose.
as for the comments on turn around times...seems to be at time hit or miss. i have submitted quite a large number of subs over the last month and a half, some off the normal specials others off of a discounted large sub.
i had one 127 card bulk sub pop in just a calendar month
i had a 55 card patch sub pop in the same time line
then a 500 card bulk sub pop in just 16 days, though this sub need almost no research as they were from about 7 different main stream sets
i am still waiting on a 25 tall boy sub and 3 other 500 card bulks that were all submitted and logged in at the same time.
in my experience turn arounds have just as much to do with the amount of time they need to research your sub vs the total number, as seen with the above cards. then again if you pay for the higher service level you get the turn around times suggested for the level you pay for.

Only if ya want to drive yourself nuts.
<< <i>I am curious in the reasoning behind checking 10-20 times a day. I only find myself doing this is if I have a sub that has some odd ball stuff in it. I know that at least 1 card will have a dreaded mechanical error. So I try to catch it b4 they ship it out back to me. Other wise why bother? It's not like you can add the cards to your inventory or at least your not supposed to until you have them in hand. Just curious. >>
Since just about everything I send in falls under three categories: oddball items, errors/variations (most unlisted) and personal collection stuff, I am usually eager to see whether or not they labeled them accurately or even graded them at all. If there is an issue and I may be able to help, I try to catch that little window of time between popping and shipping. This leads to me checking several times throughout the later days of a sub.
On more than one occasion, I have been able to call and get info on several grades before they show up under my submission because one card or another has held up the order. In this instance, I called last Wednesday and the order had not been graded yet. Its slightly worrisome that PSA is waiting to the last minute to grade a mixed batch of stuff that doesn't typically get submitted, especially considering they already notified me that they wouldn't grade 2/8 cards sent in.

<< <i>I never look at my grades on line. For me, the excitement is pulling out each slabbed card and seeing the grade when that PSA package arrives in the mail. Like Christmas morning! >>
...or like watching your dog get hit by a car.
"Yes, this is Betty Ford."
"Huh? Oh, forget it, I need to check in."
"What seems to be the trouble, sir?"
"I.....I'm addicted to.......slabs."
"I'm sorry, sir, but we don't seem to have that listed as a condition for treatment here."
"Look, I'm desperate, ok? I spend most of my days staring into space like a zombie, except when I click on my order number for the 1000th time and wind up exasperated yet again until I just feel like putting my fist through the computer. That or my PSA 9 Carlton Fisk rookie, no just kidding, but I feel like I'm starting to lose control and I often finds myself curled up in the corner of the room with my favorite 1 of 1 refractors and they're just sooooooooo beautiful. I really do love them. But, it becomes a problem when you forget to do stuff, like go to work. Or the bathroom."
"I see. Well, I suppose we could recognize this as a compulsion which requires immediate attention and maybe some drugs. When can you be here?"
"After I pry this Pete Rose subset from my sticky little hands, I suppose."
"Good. Then I assume we'll be seeing you here real soon. Bring a toothbrush. And just a word of warning right now, if you decide to go all Lindsay Lohan on any of our attendants, we'll boot your a$$ outta here faster than you can say 'Rickey thinks Rickey is great!', you got that?"
"Depends. Do any off them chew bubble gum?"
"No. Not allowed here. Sugar high won't keep them focused."
"Then we should be fine. See ya soon Betty!"

3 out of 6 aint to shabby. I should have used my 10x loope but it is still packed away from my move last August. Next sub I will be using it for sure. I missed something on the 2 Heritage cards, oh well bummer. Happy about the rest.
