Baseball Hall of Fame Set Anyone have any info on these cards?

I just came across this set of mini cards. They are glossy and have 70 cards. The box looks old, and the back has a space for a mailing address and "place 6 cent stamp here".
Anyone ever seen these or know any details?

They're Callahan HOF cards, issued beginning in 1950. There are rare varieties on some of the cards. Commons in PSA 7 usually go for $10 apiece.
The Beckett Almanac and the Standard Catalog both have a detailed breakdown on the set. You can also look at the registry to see the rare varieties.

cool to see it in the original packaging like that! There are a few on the Registry who are avid collectors. Given the distribution, there are a number today that are still in high grade. Noted that variations can be tough.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

These are pretty sharp. What is kind of interesting is the gloss, they almost look too good. The box definitely looks like it is from the early 50's. Does anyone know if they have a "gloss" on the front?
  • I used to be #4 on the registry, so I can educate you on these. Send me a pm and let me know how many cards there are, and what you think PSA would grade them. If they are not in high grade they are not worth much. They started making these sets in 1950, and they ended in 1956. Each year there were more inductees. The last set in 1956 has the most expensive cards do to the lower circulation. Having the box, makes it worth a little more. The box can sell for as much as $40. If you have a complete set with box, it fetches a little better price. I would only grade these cards if they will grade PSA 8 or higher.

Send me a pm, and I can educate you further. If possible, please send a scan of the nicer ones.

I wouldn't mind if you posted on the set in this thread.

I know very little about it - and am always willing to learn.
