Anyone here use an Ipad to browse the board?

Just wondering if anyone here uses an Ipad to browse the board, and if so, what is your review of it. Is it pretty much the same browsing experience as on a standard laptop?

Thanks,

Mike

I use my Droid and it works just as fine except I haven't figured out how to copy & paste when responding to a post.

    Hi Mike

My wife was gonna get one - I tried it out - didn't like the "screen" typing - it did move relatively fast - no problem there.

Instead she got a Mac "Air" - which also has flash memory - but I like the regular keyboard - and it's amazingly light! The speed and response is as good as my laptop and office PC.

If you're gonna do a lot of posting/typing with the Ipad? Ya might find it cumbersome - I would try it out at the Mac store.

    Totally agree.

as gorgeous a device as the ipad is, it's a total PITA for that sort of work.

Used them a lot and plan on getting my wife one for her birthday but it's really just for apps and internet browsing. I don't like the typing much and wouldn't recommend the 3G service. It's essentially like spending $300 more/year for a device that costs you $200 more just to get the connectivity for. Your phone should cover any hardcore 3G needs that you have.

Try pressing down on the text you want to copy then a box should come up.

I browse from my iPhone and my wife's iPad. They both work fine. Obviously the iPad is faster and easier to use due to the size compared to the iPhone. There is no discernible difference for the boards with the iPad.

Yes... I have an iPad2 that I use pretty much exclusively to browse the web and view these boards.

Typing is cumbersome, but just take a little getting used it. Auto-correct is a PITA when typing... but it's just trying to help.

If you're on the fence at all about getting one, no need to worry, you won't regret buying one!

  • I use my Ipad all the time on the boards and works really well. Nice to sit with the wife watch a game, please Celtics win tonight(save some face), and post on the boards and read throught the threads.

The only compaint is that it is a bit hard to edit a post, which isn't exactly IMO eye appealing.

If you have one or get one, enjoy it!!!

Thanks guys for all the replies. Eloy, yep, I just ordered my wife and I one. I got outbid tonight on a Ty Cobb single signed baseball that I wanted (I was the underbidder so lost by one bid, aarrgghhhh, no telling how high the top bidder would have gone though) so the Ipads are my consolation prize.

LOL we have two in our house. Smart in not just having 1. Your daughter will take over 1.

Think of all the vintage I could have bought instead of 2 iPads, 3 Mac Books, 1 iMac, 4 iPhones, 5 iTouches over the last 4 years. Steve Jobs should send me his auto rookie card!

Thanks for the idea. You know I'll try to get one image I've neglected my signed rookie building the last few weeks as once I saw the Cobb ball, I was enthralled with that and was saving up in hopes of being high bidder. Probably good that I didn't get it as that's not my collecting focus and I don't need another focus, LOL.

Sure was a nice ball though,
