Help on PSA error

I recevied my order back from PSA late last week and in the order was this card. The thing is that I dont remember sending them a base auto card because I only deal with refractors 99% of the time. I got the following Colvin cards, GOLD PSA 10, BLUE PSA 10, BLUE PSA 9 and this one.

PSA has told me they want me to send it back to them because they must have mislabeled it. Is it possible that they somehow swapped out a gold for this base which is not mine. Im confused.

i got back a sub a few weeks ago and thought for sure that they didnt send me back a card.

after going through them all one by one there were all there....just that they completely screwed up on putting the correct cards in four straight slabs.

i dont think they switched out the cards on you. i would double check your other colvin's to make sure what happened to me didnt happen to you, in that the other 3 are in the wrong slabs too.

Did you keep a copy of your submission form? PSA usually sends a photocopy back with the order. Did you send 2 Gold cards, or only one?

We are all humans and we all make mistakes at one time or another. A similar thing happened to me so now I scan what I send in, that way if I think there is a mistake I can look back and see what I sent.

PSA has been putting out a lot of mechanical errors as of lately. There was a thread recently where CU members were demanding PSA step up on their quality control on the label process.

    Link

Ever since my first mechanical error I have taken scans of fronts and backs of every card prior to submitting to psa.

If I were the OP I would be going over the orange receipt from the submission. Also double checking the other slabs as well. Also I would be looking in the other slabs for an extra card. Hey ya never know.

If it is a mechanical error they should fix it. You will have to keep watch though. The last one really kind of annoyed me. They were going to send the error back unfixed and I was lucky and noticed it before they shipped it back. I called and they did fix it but if I hadn't called they would have sent the mechanical error back unfixed. The card was a 2009 Goudey Mini green back and the label was just 2009 Goudey w/o the mini green back variation.

It's not a new thing. It's always been bad. I'm sitting on close to 50 "mechanical errors" that I need to send back. I have the privilege to add 3 more to my collection once my latest sub returns.

What boggles my mind is the fact that you can research your cards for hours, put down the correct names and they still screw it up. It's such a tired act.

I really don't understand how they can be so bad at this. I submit to PSA and BGS. I have never had one card come back form BGS with a "mechanical error". Not saying there aren't any out there but I sure don't own any.

I prefer PSA so I'm glad somebody made a thread asking them to step up their quality control.

Hey Joe, can you throw us a bone here?

This is just my own theory, but my I've noticed that if the player is insignificant or not highly collectable (Emmitt Smith, Derek Jeter, Tyler Colvin, etc), the percentage of mechanical errors increases exponentially. That is only human nature.

You'll rarely see mechanical errors involving cards of Barry Sanders, Steve Yzerman, Justin Verlander, etc.
