I have a box of 1961 Nu Card Football All American Candidates which include some big names of that era.I have never opened the box which I have possesed for quite a while now and occasionally see a box on ebay listed from about 7 to $800 and many singles both raw and graded and a few sets on the registry.I lived back in that era but never recall these cards however I do recall the Baseball cards from that company from 1960 and 1961.Can anyone give me any type of background on this item? The price is no where near what you would pay for 61 Fleer or Topps if there were any.I have been reluctant to open the packs. What do you you think????

<< <i>Outside of just a few players - Davis, Hadl, Gabriel - there aren't a lot of stars in the set. There are a lot of graded cards available fairly cheap - PSA 8 and 9 for $5 and under. I opened a few packs a couple of years ago and the cards were in really nice shape. Out of 10-12 cards I got 3 or 4 PSA 10s and a couple 9's. However, it might not really be worth opening the box based on prices of raw and graded cards. I doubt getting the packs graded would be worth it either. >>
Thanks ,Tony
PSA 8 commons generally go for $5, PSA 9 for $10, and even PSA 10 examples $15... many do not sell even at those prices.
The Davis is the only strong seller in the set with strong PSA 8 examples bringing $50-$75 and PSA 9 bringing $75-$100.
John Hadl & Roman Gabriel, the only other "big name" cards in the set carry only a slight premium over the commons.
I have seen raw boxes sell for between $350 - $550.
I sold a bunch of GAI 9.5 graded packs at $50 a pop, but it was to one buyer in a short period of time, and I have no other point of reference... but I tend to think that is north of "market" for these.
Were it my box, I would sell it as is, definitely not bust it.

Were these originally regionally sold?
