Egyptienne Straights Cigarettes and the B-18 Blankets

Since I'm crashing and burning with pins - let me add another area I like - that's relatively new to me: cigarette packs.

I have a nice writeup on Helmar but this one is on the Egyptienne Straights Cigarette Advertisement.

I recently picked up an advertising picture and a coupon for silk national flags – I got the coupon in an empty Helmar pack that I picked up – not sure how it got there? Helmar is a Lorillard product while Egyptienne Straights is from the American Tobacco Co.

Here’s the advertising picture for Egyptienne Straights Cigarettes. What makes it special is the fact that it has the "original" frame that would be placed on a counter of a tobacco shop.

The picture subject comes from the inside of the pack:

I only know of a few premiums that came from this packs/boxes – the B-18 blanket and silk cards depicting flags from around the world.

Here’s the coupon: It may just be the "find" in this - I've never seen one before!

I have no interest in collecting the silks or the blankets – I just like the ads and the graphics on the packs.

That rich red really pops on that ad, Mike - very cool.

Great item Mike. I always enjoy the diversity of the stuff you collect.

I hope you didn't smoke the cigarettes. image

    Thanx Mike and Mike!

I like the chromolithographic material of the early 1900s - and it's pretty easy to detect vs modern day printing.

Wish other people collected this kind of stuff - it would be fun to see it posted here.
