Jerry Remy (Remdawg) beloved voice of the Boston Red Sox in tough shape

Jerry Remy, the voice of the Red Sox [team stats] for more than 20 years, is fighting the aftereffects of lung cancer and will be out of the broadcast booth indefinitely.

Remy underwent surgery late last year, NESN revealed yesterday, and has since battled an infection and pneumonia.

The above from a Boston website today. Hopefully the Remdawg pulls this one out of the fire and returns to the microphone with his sidekick, Don Orsillo.

If you are a smoker (and maybe Remy didn't contract his problem from smoking), but FWIW, I used to be a 3-PACK+ a day smoker of LUCKY STRIKES, the real cigarette. The day I got home from Vietnam (Nov 6, 1970), I quit cold turkey. Kinda crappy for about 3 days, but a word to the wise, dump the puff, it ain't worth it, nicotine can be beat, I'm living proof.

Let us keep the Remdawg in our thoughts and prayers.
