Bought group of low grade Mantles today to sell - grade or not?

The 1956 Topps and the 1961 MVP cards are nice. Otherwise, I think everything will grade PSA 1, 2, or 3. What do you think? Grade or not?
My guess on grades is: Bowmans - 1952-1, 1953-2, 1954-2, 1955-1.5. Topps - 1956-5 or 6, 1959-2.5, 1961-3, 1961 MVP-6 o/c, 1962-1, 1963-3, 1964-3, 1965-2, 1966-2, 1967-3, 1968-3, 1969-3.

the 1956 Mantle is the nicest card from the lot imo. The 64 is close behind it. Nice group of Mickeys!

I think raw is best for resale on these. Even the 56, as it would not be out of place in an ex/mt set, but could be a 3/4/5. I guess you could crack it if unhappy with the grade.

I guess it depends what you plan on doing with them. If you plan on keeping them for a while I would get them slabbed. HOWEVER, if you are looking to flip them right away, I would agree with Mike on most of them.

I would get them all slabbed, when PSA has a cheap special.
You should easily get the fees back when you sell them.

Slabbed cards appeal to a wider audience and are usually
easier to sell. (Even buyers that "don't like" slabs often
buy slabbed cards and crack them out.)

And, lots of buyers avoid raw cards; fear of fakes and
    alterations.

Ain't it something that intelligent, informed collectors can have different opinons? Oh, I also bought a 1933 Goudey Ruth #149 with this lot, as well as a 1964 Topps Giants Mantle and a 1968 Topps game card Mantle. I'll get the Ruth graded but not the other two. Thanks for your comments. David (judgebuck)

The Ruth is a 1, I think. Much wear.

I'll get the Ruth graded and show it!! It is dirty looking with rounded corners, but it's all in one piece!! I'll scan it and show it tomorrow.

Even though Steve is a Phillies fan, I still have to agree with him...get those Mantles graded by PSA. Like storm888 said you will get more from buyers knowing that these cards are legit which will more than cover the costs to do so.

Good luck with finding those Mantles a good home. image

If you get them all graded at one time you might get a bump on 1 or 2 cards? Plus, like mentioned earlier, Mantles are better in a PSA slab than raw!

    Nice pick-ups! Congrats!

I've tried this before on lower grade Mantles & basically broken even but I may have overpaid to start with. Besides the '56 & '64, the '61 & the MVP card have nice eye appeal.

Here is the 1933 Goudey Ruth that I bought yesterday with the Mantle cards. It is the same card that I sold the fellow about 20 years ago. It is low grade with a dirty looking surface but no creases.

I'll get it slabbed, but I won't enjoy it!! It's going on the sale block. I'll enjoy my 1933 Goudey #53 PSA 5 (even though I have to go to the lockbox at the bank to enjoy it).
