Help Grading 1968 Topps

This series has always given me fits with grading. But I have like 500 raw 68s that are this quality and better. What do people think the Robinson and Carton would grade at? My initial hack is a 7 for each, but maybe 6s? No idea, these are definitely tough cases to me. The carlton bottom right corner is definitely not ideal. The Robinson doesn't seem to be centered ideally.

Wild guess: 7 on the Robinson and 6 on the Carlton.

Always looking for Mantle cards such as Stahl Meyer, 1954 Dan Dee, 1959 Bazooka, 1960 Post, 1952 Star Cal Decal, 1952 Tip Top Bread Labels, 1953-54 Briggs Meat, and other Topps, Bowman, and oddball Mantles.

These cards are tough to grade, but the good news is that you don't have to do it. Neither of these is a lock PSA 9, so just list both of them raw on Ebay for roughly what a PSA 8 would sell for, list them as 'NM+', put up a big scan, and they'll both sell within four months.

    I think the Robinson would get a 8oc or a 7, The Carlton would get a 7 even a 8 on a good day.

  • I think the robinson would get 7 no quals, but the carlton I can't tell if that is some discoloration at the bottom, just looks like a weird different looking line of stuff, as well as the bottom left corner looking pretty dinged up... I like the centering but that corner keeps it at a 7

Count me among those who have a tough time grading 68s. I don't use a loupe, so maybe that's my biggest mistake. Those burlap borders make it tough. I've gotten more 6s when expecting 8s from this set than any other.
