Price Question

Can anybody tell me the catalog price on an 1818 Prussian Ein Thaler in Fine? It does not have a mintmark. Thanks, Mike

I'm not near my books right now but I know I have three of that date so it is not super rare, I have never seen one without a mintmark nor do I list one on my list (I collect Prussian coins by date and mint). The mintmarks are A or D for that year under the date... They have .5371 ASW so with the age I would guess about double melt value to someone who wants one. I paid 35 dollars for my A in fine and 65 for my D in vf according to my spreadsheet. I did not keep records back when I bought the first A in vg. but I would sell it today for about 1.5 X melt. Going on memory, I am guessing about $50-$75 in fine by catalog. I would love to see a pic of yours without a mintmark, maybe an error or counterfeit? Hope this helps a little, I'm sure someone will come along soon and give you a current book value.

    Have a happy!

  • Does it have a dragon on it? If so, 1818A value is F $15, VF $35, XF $95, Unc $250, BU $330. From the 1800-1900 Krause.
Still thinking of what to put in my signature...
