I have a coin with a square hole on it. I am thinking to send it to grade. Can it be graded? Thanks.
edit: The hole is not come from the mint. Someone made a hole on the coin. From the replies looks like if it is genuine then it can be graded as Details or Genuine. Thanks for all the replies.

but only if it indeed IS genuine.
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.
See http://www.doubledimes.com for a free online reference for US twenty-cent pieces
But seriously, when is PCGS going to start grading encased coins? They are not a hole in a coin, but a coin in a hole.

I collect all 20th century series except gold including those series that ended there.

As did French, as did African, as did Hong Kong, French Indochina, etc, etc, etc.

I took the OP's question as to be dealing with coins holed outside the mint. Obviously, coins that have holes as part of their original design can be graded.

I did too - that is why I refrained from going down the other path until 'provoked'. LOL

for example...the barack obama coin with have a hole in its head as part of the design... due to his actual condition.
