Please advice what microscope to purchase?

I have been considering investing in a microscope, preferably one with a camera. I have read the forum and found that most use the small hand held dyno-lite, however while it produces great closeups it is my understanding that pics of a full coin is lousy. I was also looking into the AMscope Stereo Trinocular Microscope, however after doing some reading, the 5mp camera produces horrible pictures. My use will be to inspect coins, to decide what to keep and what to sell and to take pictures to use in auctions etc. Please advice what is the best option for me, I would like to spend less than 1k if possible.

  • I bought a national stereo microscope, dual power with a 1.2 mpx ccd. It works well, but the higher magnification (30 or 40x) really needs a high intensity fiber optic dual light source. A nice scope can come in handy at times.

Are you able to take pics with it?
