(Finally UPDATED w/link to pictures & story): one of my most fascinating (and bizarre) coin find

lordmarcovanlordmarcovan Posts: 43,873 ✭✭✭✭✭
No, I won't say what it is, yet, but I made a pretty remarkable find Tuesday afternoon.

I won't post the full story and/or pictures for a while yet.

I'm sick and bedridden at the moment and this computer is acting up awfully. Furthermore, we're about to get hit with a band of severe thunderstorms that's no doubt gonna knock out our satellite DSL (but hopefully not our power).

I've posted a little "teaser" on the MD forum, though.

UPDATE- I've finally gotten 'round to posting a picture of this find, and telling more of the story.

Click either this link here or the one below, and scroll down. I've now updated the original "teaser" thread so it teases no longer.

<< <i>I hope it was across the pond! >>

No, I'm still stateside, on this side of the pond.

But that's the freaky thing. This find was one of the things that was on my wishlist for anticipated finds on the England detector trip. I can cross one off the list without even having left home.

You gotta really love Haggis (I'm of Scottish descent, and KNOW what it tastes like), or the plate WILL stay barely touched, even by critters, for 500 years, or more.
    I'll come up with something.

How bout a NE VI pence... or maybe a shilling!! Now either of those would be such a scrumptious find!!

And that would go along with the slightly older than 1658? 1652 on the NE pieces right?

    Huh. I wish.

Nope, this is older than that.

And not as valuable. Not worth a whole lot monetarily, actually. But fascinating, since it's something of an archaeological anomaly.

Here- now that I've mostly recovered from the sickness that struck me down for a little while...

I've finally gotten 'round to actually posting the thing, with a picture.

Sorry it took me so long. I kept everyone dangling a bit longer than originally intended.
