When did Buffalo nickels, Mercury dimes, SLQ's, Walkers and Peace dollars become ...................

............................... widely and actively collected in the hobby?
Was it during the time that they were the current circulating coinage, or was it some period of time [i.e. five or ten years] after they were no longer produced?
Whatever the answer is, has the same dynamic occurred with respect to the collecting of Morgans, Barber coinage, Liberty nickels and Indian head cents?
Same question as to Jefferson, Roosies, Washies, Frankies, Kennedies and IKEs?
If not, why not [maybe because at least for Jeffersons, Roosies and Washies they are still the current circulating coinage of the realm].
Your thoughts please.
