Roman Coins on Exhibit

In connection with the display of a Roman (ca. 300 CE) mosaic unearthed in Israel, the Palace of the Legion of Honor in San Francisco currently has on display - until July 24 - a nice collection of three dozen ancient Roman coins.

    Amazing artwork in that mosaic. It's surprising so much of it has remained intact and colors relatively fresh as well.

    Yes, I have seen the coins - all on loan from members ofm the SF Ancient Numismatic Society. I recommend a trip over there. Some of the coins show extraordinary clarity of image. I couldn't find anything more about on the web to show you.
