Grading question on this Jefferson Nickel?

I have an earlier post on the 1941-S Large S DDR-001. I sent it in for PCGS grading in order to add it to my "All Variety" Set. I just received word that it was gently placed in a Body Bag! The scratch on the reverse was the death blow. I spoke to a PCGS Assiciate and was informed their grading standards do not allow coins to receive numeric grades if there is a scratch on the coin.
Obviously, this coin has no significant value other than to me and maybe a couple others. I expected a grade lower for the scratch, maybe an MS62 or MS63, not a Body Bag. The scratch is not distracting, as if it were across Jefferson's face or Monticello. It doesn't take away form the overall look of the coin. What are you thoughts or am I just a whiner?

I've seen a few circulated grades with scratches that appeared to be from other coins but don't remember any in MS getting grades.
keets - Unfortunately PCGS does not attribute varieties other than the Cherry Pickers.
TexasNationals - You make a good point, but it still hurts!

I am willing to concede the arguement upon submission of different images

well then that makes the answer "send it to whoever attributes the variety" since that is what you want, right??

<< <i>keets, another unfortunate chapter in this saga, my "All Variety" Set are all PCGS coins! The variety attributions, well, you just have to take my word on them. Hope the pictures support the attribution!

IIRC, the 1941 Large S is recognized by Cherrypickers. Did PCGS at least attribute the coin as a Large "S" even if they don't recognize the DDR?
Hoard the keys.
For the person who thought it was a strike-through, from the photos I have to disagree but even if it was it would still get bagged. I had a nice high-grade 1941 DDO cent with a struck-thru on the reverse, I even put a note in the flip saying it was as struck and not damaged, and it came back bagged anyway.

Till next time!
in all honesty, I buy most of my Jeffs in PCGS plastic, but if there is a problem coin and I wanted
an honest grade opinion written nicely and packaged, ive used SEGS and I have bought problems graded by SEGS.
I have done this for everything boarder line or iffy,(JEFFERSON) I fgure the grades percise and if a day
does come when there are broader acceptences then I can pop em into the holder i want.
till then they are safe and accurately graded.

I agree with this, on a lower grade circ coin that scratch probably wouldn't stop it from grading.

certain ones require different thinking. Its yours, you like it, I know I like it-
do ya really care? some of the nicest coins can be raw or in diff plastic
I think your problem here is you wanna jam it in your set
just add a notation, the serious collector will admire you for your coin, not
weither if its in plastic and whoms plastic it is.
I know I dont care, I like it, and I live and breathe jeffs
