My son just emailed me, he found a two cent piece in a coinstar !!!!

2 1943 Lincolns, 3 Merc dimes and a Two Cnt piece, 1864 of course........
What are your more recent finds ? this sounds like a good one. Detroit is his location.

The only thing I've ever found in a coinstar is a pair of Canadian cents. Yawn. And I look every time I see one.

Wow, that is something that I would have never guessed.

This tells me that someone cashed in grandmas coin stash, or stole a jar of old change of something.....Not something you would see from the general public

Agreed, the general public would probably think any 2c piece was a fake!

not ness, as I have released alot of stuff into coinstar to let others find, one year, 2006 I bought the new jeffersons
from the mint, mint rolls and I broke em up and dropped them in the parking lot, in the store on the floor and shelves (stop n shop),
wow even in the parking lot on the light pole pedestals. I remember even throwing them in the stairwwells at my apartment
building not only those but the 2004-2005 ones also. One might think I was stupid, I see it as seeding the hobby.

I enjoyed every minute of it, and I will do so again.

heck might even start a giveaway here tonight, even though I just ended one image

I found a silver dime in one about 6-8 months ago. Very neat find!

When you guys talk about finding coins in a Coinstar, are you talking about checking the
reject bin? I assume that the guys that service the machines are not spending too much
time going through the thousands of coins turned in.

I never even bothered to look when I moved the last time and dumped a coffee can of change in one rather than packing it up. Didn't even cross my mind there was a place to check.
