Indian Head Pennies

I bought some in a small collection this weekend and I have 3 that are double the thickness of the others. These are 1860, 1862, & 1863. Could these be fakes?

The issues from 1859-1864 before the switch to bronze were made of copper-nickel and these are heavier and thicker than the bronze pieces.

beat me to it and hey Tom, hope all is well on your end~

I just started putting together a collection with my kids club, and before
I even started I had a 1863 au example, and when I got the collection started
I noticed the difference in what had come in versus the one lone example I had.

    deffinately a great question

thats the one great thing when I change modes in collecting and a great example to show the kids,
    you learn something new daily/weekly.

    I never get bored
