just wondering. if you have a slabbed coin that developed a problem that warranted a TPG revue......

...could you request a replacement coin instead of a money/down-grade adjustment refund? i'm curious if anyone

has ever done/tried this in the past. your thoughts? image

    1) I think it depends if a replacement is available
    2) Be careful what you wish for....imagine them buying back a PR69 SAE with spots and grading it a PR68. Now, you have a PR68 you send it and want a replacement...you want the spotted one? image

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

  • Wouldn't the response to this sort of thing be at the discretion of PCGS?

You can request anything you want... image

  • I don't think they can send you a replacement coin. You can get back your original coin in the lesser holder and a check for the difference, or you can get a check for the full amount and they keep the coin. I was given both of those options when a coin I sent in downgraded. I took the check for the full amount, with the idea that I could shop for a replacement coin.

Since PCGS is not a coin dealership, they don't have shelving stock. Besides, in the case of rarer coins, the availability of a "replacement coin" is kind of limited--it's not like 1893-CC half eagles are laying around in buckets to be pulled from inventory.
