Printing postage from paypal or at USPS.com...need some help/advice.

I am going to be vacationing in Florida in a few weeks and will have some auctions that will need to be mailed while I'm there.
As some of you know, I live in Canada and i figure that I can save on shipping charges and also get delivery confirmation if I mail out my cards while I am in the U.S.
That being said, I am not sure how to do this. I was thinking I could just print the postage from Paypal before I leave and then drop them in a mail box while in Florida.
My hope is that I can print the labels and postage up on the Thursday before I leave and then drop them off in the post on the Saturday when I arrive.
Can I do this?
If so, do I print from Paypal or by going to the USPS website?
Also, if an auction is under $200.00 then I only need to send the card with delivery confirmation but if not, and the card is over $250 what service level do I use?
Or, anyone know if there is a post office in the Detroit Airport?
Thanks to all that can help.

Apparently, the zip code for the Detroit airport is 48242. This will be the zip code of origin when you dump the stuff in the outgoing mailbox there.
So your actual return address should have your name and address in Canada. But the origin of the package should be in the U.S. listed as zip code 48242. You can double check domestic shipping rates at usps.com to make sure you're being charged the proper amount before printing the shipping label. That online shipping calculator will tell you that it's not possible to print labels for parcel post, first class, or media mail online, but that only applies to the usps site itself. You can print those labels just fine with ebay or PayPal. There's a $0.19 surcharge for it though.
Also be careful when selecting the exact service you want. The U.S. post office has made everything much more complicated when sending envelopes that are large and/or rigid, so tread carefully when using that online shipping calculator.

Can you expound a bit on this? Are there any new rules regarding shipping in an envelope if it is rigid? (ie a large book)
