Need help, quick question dealing with a current ebay case.

Hey guys,
I have recently been dealing with a bit of a headache with one seller. I purchase a card and the card wasn't as described, no big deal, I ask for a refund since he has a 7 day return policy, but he never replies. After 4 more emails over the span of 8-10 days I finally decide to open an ebay case, sure enough he finally responds (coincidentally). He seemed nice enough and agreed to refund my money if I send him the card which I did last week. Finally I asked if he received the card and I get this response:
"Yes. Just got yesturday afternoon. I don't have $$ in paypal so can either send echeck or a company check. Sorry about mix up."
How should I proceed? Should I accept a check or tell him I need paypal or what? I am a bit lost.
Thanks in advance for any help given and any advise.
Jason

if it is a echeck that I believe is basically paypal but you have to wait 5 to 7 days for it to clear, or take a company check as long as you are still in the time frame under ebay and paypal rules. really depends on value of the card 50.00 or 5000.00 anything over a 200.00, I would demand paypal. you paid by paypal (I assume) you should get paid back by paypal. don't close the case till you have cash in hand. jmho

You need to have either a credit card or a bank account tied to your Paypal account....this is where the funds are drawn if Paypal is empty.
Personally, I always keep my paypal account empty. But that doesn't mean I don't buy regularly. It just comes from my bank.
I'd demand paypal.

Having a confirmed credit card, confirmed bank account, and confirmed street address is not going to help the seller send an instant REFUND. He can easily send an instant PAYMENT, but the only way to send a refund with no funds available in his PayPal balance is via eCheck.
So again, I say, just take the seller at his word and accept the eCheck. It's really not a big deal and should clear before the end of the week.
