1853 California Gold Fractional Half Dollar...What do I have here?

I found this today at my Grandfather's house....This is certainly not my forte... It looks die struck, but could possible be a reproduction. I took these photos with my cell phone, so I apologize!

It is my experience that if they have a bear on them that they are either more modern tokens or less valuable pieces overall. Also, there is no denomination written on the piece, which would suggest it is a more modern token.

The real ones usually have a denomination with CENTS or DOLLAR or an abbreviation thereof.
