NEWP: 1655 Ferdinand III (1637-1657) Taler

This one arrived yesterday from the Bowers - Stack's Auction. Ferdinand III issues from the Vienna mint do not surface as often in high grades as they do from the Kremnitz mint. Both share a crude minting process relative to the more advanced Hall mint technology of the time.

Very nice. I got my pieces in last week also, the little 1 Kreuzer Gold pattern is just too cute.

Funny you say that... When I was married, I was afraid to spend much money on coins. I once spent $4K over a two-month period, and my wife wasn't pleased. (She didn't say much, but I could feel the chill in the air.) Now she is my ex, and I wish she were still around to keep me under control. I've completely lost control and am thinking of selling my blood (among other things) for more money. So sad...

The $4K was for dark side stuff. Two talers, neither of which graded out as hoped. Grrr...
