In a week of correction

Silver +4.8%
Gold +0.8%
Platinum -1.1%
Pladium -3.3%

Silvers move seems to be on auto pilot. It shook a few more apples from the tree this week. Stunning.

Random PM facts on this rainy Saturday morning.

The last time silver finished down on a week-over-week basis was the week ending March 20 when it closed at $35.28, down $0.62 from the prior week. Since then,

    Au up $66.70 or 4.70%
    Pt up $68.00 or 3.95%
    Pd up $36.00 or 4.94%
    Ag up $7.77 or 22.02%

    YTD
    Au up $64.80 or 4.56%
    Pt up $20.00 or 1.13%
    Pd down $35.00 or -4.38%
    Ag up $12.14 or 39.28%

So far this year, silver has only dropped week-over-week on 4 occasions, with three of those coming right at the start of the year.

From the lowest weekly close (peak-to-trough) of $27.53 during the week ended 01/23/11, silver is up $15.52 / ozt or 56.37%.

    Added:

YTD, the Dow, S&P500, Nasdaq and the Russell 2000 are all outperforming Gold, Platinum and Palladium by 3-4 percentage points.

Interesting to just look at numbers...

As I have said numerous times- watch interest rates because the cost of owning coins, precious metals etc has never been better. Look at the real return on interest rates and that tells the whole story

Also, something folks may not be thinking about and this is going to read and sound strange and all I can say is... it is what it is

The world is a different place than it was 10 years ago

Technology has changed- communication has changed - and take a look at what has happened over the past 5 months and see how things happened.

-there is a rising middle class in other countries

-While silver seems to be over extended, the situation today is different. Perhaps the most significant consideration is that even though Silver is at a 30 YEAR HIGH, That high woul be in early 1980 dollars and if that is adjusted for the value of the dollar today, the real all time high is over $100.

One final comment- don't put all of your eggs in one basket

Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.

Covered them the next day. As i posted at the time, when RSI has risen into the upper 80s' on an hourly chart, there was a 4-10% correction. Silver corrected 5.2% that day. I was out. I traded the May SLV puts from about 1.30 to about 1.80. Nice 38% trade. I only had 50 thoughimage

But like I've said 100 times, gotta be nimble. My only commitment is to my wife, all other "assets", I date. Some just for a night.image
