Anyone selling "coins" for bullion

Is anyone selling collector coins for bullion? Gold and silver commeratives are up of course, do you ponder selling to reinvest in bullion? Or what about key date coins...... time to unload and reinvest in bullion? Just thinking.

Well, can't say it hasn't crossed my mind....

If I could trade 215 XF-BU Morgans for 200 ozs I'd be more than tempted.

I just put up a pristine set of Franklin halves on the PM BST thread that is priced pretty close to bullion. It's almost a shame that such nice, hand-picked stuff is likely destined for the melting pot one day

I find myself looking at it from the other side: Good quality collector coins are now available at little or no premium over melt (like Barndog's half set). I'm not selling collector coins to buy bullion, but I am picking up more coins than bullion right now.

I am not selling my numismatic gold for more bullion. Instead I have slowed down my numismatic purchases to pour more money into bullion stacking.

I sold thirteen (13) OBW Roosevelt rolls the other day for bullion (dates 1959-1961).

I sold most of my collector coins in 2008. Most of it went into bullion related stuff or cash.

  • All the time. I've sold many coins to buy bullion and vice versa. It's fun!

Don't know if you consider them 'collector coins' now or not but I'm selling the following as bullion.
    1960's proof sets.
    Any circulated Washington quarter except 32 D & S and 37 S.
Circulated Walkers back to 1933 save the 38-D. (Remember when the 35-D and 37-D brought a little more? Not so any more)
    Any War circ. 5c.
    Many circ Merc dime dates.
Foreign silver. Australian silver in sterling goes wanting so off to the refinery.
    And on and on.

Any money goes into bullion ounces since that is where all the action is now.
The most money I made are on coins I haven't sold.

    Got quoins?

There's still plenty of room for speculating in new Modern Bullion issues, letting them mature like fine wine, and then selling them for a nice profit with which to buy more bullion.

    To wit:

    2006-W
    2008-W
    UHR
    Jackson
    VanBuren
    Julia
    Puck fever

    There will always be another.
