So, I turned on the volume on my TV just soon enough to hear that someone on CNBC just sold a bunch of their gold coins for a huge profit, and.....
the blond airhead giving the report related that rare coins were popular as well, but that it is important to go to a reputable place to buy and sell..........
places like, "PNI and AIN".
It's really good to know stuff like that, just in case!!!

You could make those letters spell PAIINN, which is what I have felt trying to sell some CC Morgans that I knew were worth alot more than what the B&M I took it to was willing to offer...and I knew the dealer, and he wouldn't give me a fair offer. There's no interest in coins out there now.

I'll just keep mine. They'll come back soon enough.
Use to be getting 10% back of greysheet was the norm. Now it seems to be 25%, at least, and I aint going to allow that to happen. Dont need the cash that badly lol.
Especially when CC Morgans are really the core of what my collecting is all about.
Do not over think this one
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.

Yeah, the bullion thing largely kills the collector thing it would seem. I'm sure those who esteem fine old sterling have many times felt the same way.

I agree - everything is going for bullion, making it a great buying opportunity...

I might agree thare is no interest in generic or common grade coins right now, but in the auctions I was bidding in the past month rare coins did very well. Don't get me wrong, CC Morgans are nice coins, but most aren't rare, you can buy them at any show you go to or just about any dealer online.
The Heritage world sale last night got some amazing prices for rare 18th and 19th C. south and central America. And I paid what might be called stupid prices for some 19th and 20th C. British copper. Conversly, common coins in 63-65 were going very cheap, if you bought common date Victoria Shillings in 65 1-3 years ago you could be looking at a 30% drop since then.
In addition to a few rare coins I also bought a several of these this past week. Paid over spot of course but I like the combined numismatic and bullion aspect and I don't let it interfere with my "collecting" budget.
