  • It is probably a good idea to read the feedback that says
"Pack of 84 Topps football was opened and searched watch out for his sealed packs"

    Before buying unopened from someone....

  • There's also a lot of positive feedback for his packs. Either way, im not too mad because I didn't pay a lot.

Rip it for $15.00 and find out.

This Frickin' POS is a known Re-Sealer and deserves nothing but to be banned from E-Bay. I have monitored his actions for a couple of years now and it Galls me that he continues to rip people off and get away with it. I and several others have reported him to E-Bay at least a dozen times!!
His packs are manufactuerd last week, the people leaving Positive feedback either have no clue they are being ripped off or are not opening the packs to find out!!!!

Great, and I was excited about getting this pack.
  • It's a cheap lesson in buying unopened material. There is a site called Baseball Card Exchange owned by an individual named Steve who is one of the hobbies most trusted, respected and foremost experts in unopened material. Order from his site and you will be happy. If you can wait for the next Group Rip, it's normally a 10% discount due to the volume we buy. Welcome to the Boards.
  • Last thing, go to eBay Feedback seller checker or purchase wrecker

It's a fantastic resource when buying on eBay

Seller is a known resealer...chance of that pack being legit is nil..sorry.

The worst part is the "iron drag" on the back seal instead of the typical roller marks. He's literally advertising that the pack is resealed with that image.

  • Great. lol. Why didn't I come across this thread last week. I bidded on a couple packs on Ebay and have yet to receive them.
I already knew it was a risk buying unopened wax this way.

    image to the boards bballkid8 & b168.

At least it was a cheap lesson for you, bballkid8. Hope it was the same for you b168.

Unopened packs are better bought graded or better yet from a trusted source.

Good luck with future purchases and don't be discouraged, just try and learn from your mistakes and educate yourself the best you can before buying.

  • Hey Thanks for the welcome divecchia. No, I'm a old hand at collecting. Just that those cheap prices got the greed in me to come out. It was a cheap
experience else I wouldn't have done it.
  • Reputable dealers..........BBCE.....once again............BBCE.....reputable dealer......if you HAVE to go with a graded pack.....PSA....oh....coincidentally....Steve from BBCE grades those same PSA packs......the last option is to spend $180 a crack on likely resealed garbage...

Not sure about this particular pack, but I have bought packs from this seller (Tampabaycards) in the past with no problems, specifically 70s OPC baseball.

Unfortunately 95%+ of the wax buying public is not qualified to make a correct determination as to whether a particular raw wax pack is good or not. It is for this reason that some of the biggest and longest running pack resealers on ebay had feedback scores of 99% or higher.

For this reason the (positive) feedback score, no matter how good or extensive, is irrelevant when judging the validity of a pack seller. Only the (negative) feedbacks rendered are of useful consequence!

  • (left) '80/'81 Topps basketball wax pack sealed by a human: (right) similar pack sealed by a Topps Machine:

You'll notice the overall visual difference between both packs is dramatic--especially the corner folds. The resealed pack on the left is as loose as Barry Bonds' mistress whereas the factory sealed pack on the right is as tight as Manny Ramirez's injection schedule. If any person can't see the obvious differences between the packs then I would strongly recommend that person not buy raw wax on ebay!

I would say more like 98% of the buying public are not qualified, and probably 80% of the dealers are not qualified either. the small group of dealers & John q public that are good enough to tell if the pack has been tampered with or not, probably learned their lessons the hard way by getting burnt a few or more times.

The best laugh I had (1989 or 1990) was buying 2 boxes of 82 Donruss off a very reputable dealer , decided to open up both boxes to build a set about 1/2 through the 1st box, I had hit 2 Ripken rookies and then declared that the boxes & packs had been searched which they had been, because there was not 1 single Reds player, the guy that had sold the boxes to the dealer had opened and resealed every pack as he was a huge Reds fan and just collected Reds players/team sets. ripped the rest of the packs and ended up with 3 Ripkens out of 2 searched boxes. LOL
