The color effect around the date is cool, IMO.

good eye! this ghosting (or 'shadow') effect also lends to the credibility of the natural color

  • Yea, I am sorry but I have a feeling it is AT. I am the first to defend colorful coins but this pattern of AT is very common, You will find Morgans like this in genuine holders all the time.

PS I hope I am wrong

The colors themselves scream AT to me. That, and the coin looks awfully flat for such vibrant shades.

Greg, if the price was right, it's cool.
Hopefully you didn't pay up for the toning...I am with the majority so far....

That doesn't look like what I would call NT to me. No way. No how.

Definitely AT... looks like a somewhat decent AT job, but it still has a few tall tale signs of being AT.

Correct color progression is not necessarily indicative of NT (i.e. there are AT coins that show the correct progression), but incorrect color progression is indicative of AT (i.e. if the coin exhibits an incorrect progression, chances are it's AT).

IMO, the coin in question is QT at best, and the toning pattern leads me to say the coin was dipped and then put in a holder (intentionally or not) to retone.

Pretty coin, regardless of the above.
