Everyone can be super! And when everyone's super... ... no one will be.~ Syndrome - "The Incredibles" (2004)

Will any of this stuff from the last 20 years hold value.

I am assuming certain stuff will. Autographs of HOF'ers should be worth the autograph, at least.

I am hoping that the UD 500 Club retains value. Problem is they lost the MLB license. I have yet to get the Sheffield although they did a decent job of obscuring the need for a logo. However, there is no Bonds nor A-Rod and UD's survival is not a given.

Heritage sets seem to maintain value but it seems as though they are getting too cluttered with variations. This will kill their core collectors: the set builders.

Thoughts?

Other examples:

The Stan Musial "Lost Years" question posted earlier today - with or without a "Lost Years" designation - how many collectors get excited about that? (rhetorical) Let's say 5 but it really annoys hard-core Stan Musial collectors, perhaps 100 or so, that may feel obligated to get both versions. Aunt Linda (SNL character) gives that a "Plu...eeeze!"

When collectors need to ask: Which rookie card should I get? Obviously, some stick out and at least there has only been one or two licensees the last few years but having to do an "eenie, meenie, minie, moe" is no way to pick a rookie card (as opposed to buying all 20 different ones).

edited to add other examples.

I think Heritage will hold value....also anything prior to1970 but then again I could be totally wrong....
  • I think most of the guys who retire with a good name (Hopefully Jeter?) ON CARD autos will retain some sort of value, I'm sure many of the guys who retired previous but are having on card autos now will also hold value.

Then again who knows maybe the next few generations will have no interest in cardboard and ink.

I agree, the limited number autos probably will hold value al.
