    Our precious metals and coins have served us well, have they not? Most people show up in a precious metals forum because they understand money and the economy enough to realize the advantages of metals to some extent.

    The ongoing discussions here continue to sharpen our understanding and skills in not losing our money to something as capricious as government overspending and inflation.

    derry is correct. Until you ring the till it's all just a work in progress. I think most serious stackers realize this are motivated for other reasons.

    Realized gains are taxable. Unrealized gains are deferred. In that very real sense, holding pms is actually 100% better than a deferred tax retirement plan, because you can always access your physical stuff and there are no reporting requirements on owning it.image.

    Even if there is a financial meltdown, a financial industry Stuxnet virus, a bank holiday, a confiscation order or a currency revaluation - your physical pms stand a better chance of retaining value than most everything else.
