Angels Wrestling Mask!!!

ANGELS WRESTLING MASK

When: Tuesday, May 10, 7:05 p.m.
Opponent: Anyone in Angel Stadium (Actually, the Angels are playing the Chicago White Sox that night)

The ballpark is having to lift its restriction on masks for this night and the remaining home schedule for this giveaway smackdown. The Angels will attempt another Guinness World Record on the heels of last season's record-setting stadium-wide Snuggie fest. The team is flying in a Guinness judge from England to certify what could be record for a mask-wearing crowd (apparently outside Mardi Gras or a giant Halloween party). Fans in attendance will get this adjustable Lucha Libre-inspired mask bearing the Angels logo. As some point that night, fans will be asked to wear the mask for a 10-minute period. This could get very interesting.

The Red sox should be giving those away this year so that the fans don't have to bring their own paper bags to wear out of embarassment. 0-6.

My favorite at Yankee stadium in the 80's was bat day. that was when they actually gave you a full size bat and not one of these mini bats. Of course, I did see one guy hit another one in order to take his bat from him after the game.

About 10 years ago I was at a Diamondbacks game and they gave out pads of paper from Southwest Airlines. Of course everyone made paper airplanes. Many made it out to the field. It was funny as hell

I'll bet they never gave out paper again

Every year the Giants have a "baseball card day" where they give out team sets of Giants baseball cards. From 1983 - 2003, Mother's Cookies/Keebler made their own special set of cards, usually full-bleed glossy cards with ultra-sharp photography. They're all posed shots. From 2005 to now, Topps and Emerald Nuts produce a special team set patterned after the Topps set of that year, sometimes with different photos. It's also the only time some players even get cards (middle relievers, mid-season trades, etc). Since I don't always attend the games where they give these out, I usually check Ebay the next day and have no problem finding them.

although not a stadium giveaway, i do remember a fascinating tradition @ Dodger Stadium involving the tossing of seat cushions onto the field at the conclusion of the game, it was pretty hilarious watching them fly from all reaches of the park.....somehow my uncle wound up carrying a few of those home, even though the ushers frowned upon such behavior.

also recall sitting in the left field corner and tossing countless packs of chewing gum to Dusty Baker, so i guess you call it kind of a reverse fan giveaway.....Dusty responded by giving us a lot of memorable moments. image

I enjoyed Disco demolition night at Comisky Park in chicago. Though the sox had to forfeit a game.

    were you there? vandalizing?

i attended a rock concert, of all things, at Comiskey a few days after DD Night....needless to say, it was a pretty mellow crowd.

there was nothing left to destroy.

Was there, always hated disco, but it was pretty scary. And not I was not part of the crowd on the field.

I remember a comedian on TV (probably a 30-minute HBO show) years ago who had a great gag about how the best thing about being a fan of a bad team was the great promotions. While other teams would have team photo night or wristband night, the Mets would have toaster oven night or sofa bed night - and on Oldtimers Day, you got a real oldtimer. Art Shamsky is living in his spare room - sleeping on the sofa bed.

From the late 1960s to mid 1970s, my father took my brother and I to all the giveaway days at Yankee Stadium. This was before the sponsors plastered their names on the giveaway item. I still have the caps, seat cushions, balls someplace but my favorite was Bat Day.

The more I look at the card its mis-cut. I've about had it with SGC. last 3 0r 4 I've bought in SGC holders won't cross to PSA in or out of the holder and it some cases sent it back to SGC and they won't holder it!

I live in Anaheim Hills right next to Yorba Linda by Yorba regional park. between Yorba Linda / Weir Canyon and imperial off laPalma...

My father and I got 2 of these Ryan Theriot bobble heads last year. People were making quite a fuss about them (To the point we were offered $40 for both) since they were a limited give away. We ended up giving them to two kids sitting in our area. Not sure if he is a fan of fishing or Juicy Fruit.

Edit to add: He might get more hits swinging a fishing pole......

My favorite was the beanie baby give away in May, 1998. You got a beanie baby and a card.

Oh, you also got to see a perfect game.
