Chinese birds over junk coin

I know someone who just had a Chinese, I think 1932, Birds over Junk Dollar certified XF45 by NGC. What's the current selling value of this coin? TIA.

Check the current Heritage auction. There are a number of them.

Thanks, I had to go look up my Heritage password. I see from 2009 to 2011 these increased by about 800-900% in price.

  • Topic is a bit misleading...

1934 Is not the Birds over Junk Type...
    1932 would be...

1934 in XF45 is probably worth $120-$140 (at most)
1932 "Birds over Junk" is worth under 3k. Not sure exactly where.
1932 in UNC sold for 3k in most recent auction (ungraded though)

    I hope that helps.

1932 is the Birds Over Junk and 1933 and 1934 do not have the birds- there is a story about why the birds were removed.

An NGC EF45 would likely fetch over 2,500 easily today

I heard because it reminded the Chinese people of the Japanese warplanes that flew overhead.

Wasn't the sun also removed because the Japanese flag had the rising sun on it?
