Benedict year 6 Annual Medal

For your consideration...
Yestereday I received the latest annual medal for my collection. The reverse commemorates the pope's encyclical "Charity in Truth" and shows Christ healing the sick. There were 6000 of these minted in each of silver and bronze. Gold was also struck but I do not know the mintage altho I'm sure its was substantially less than the other medals.
IMHO the least attractive and visually interesting of Benedict's medals during his 6 years. The term workmanlike comes to mind but at least my collection is up to date.

And while the execution of the year 5 medal is very straightforward, the reverse is especially interesting as well. The medal is for the Pauline year and focuses on Paul's phrase Mihi vivere Christus est (Philippians 1.21, For to me to live is Christ...). The phrase is repeated in script in the background; St Paul and St Paul's Outside the Walls is in the foreground. Altogether it makes for a very attractive and pleasing design.
For me collecting this series comes with both pluses and minuses - and seems like putting lincoln cents in a blue folder at times. While I find my current addition somewhat disappointing, year 7 might just be a blockbuster (assuming the pope and I make it to year 7 LOL).

Of course you don't, I thought it'd be a swell idea to organize my pix into photobucket subalbums. Great idea, but it broke the links since I posted here before creating the new albums. ROTFL! Thanks for the heads up and, to paraphrase, hope you can see me now!
