1952 Mickey Mantle PSA 8 @ 675k What's going on?

I firmly believe a PSA 8 Mantle would sell for a great deal and probably $250,000 to $350,000.

The feedback alone from the seller is obviously a dead give away. I am sure the detectives on the board will nail a prior auction the cert number came from.

The two top bidders may know it is fake and are messing with the seller by bidding it to the moon. This sale will obviously not go through.

  • Dear goodolrockytoptennessee,

Can I arrange to pick up this card in person? I have over $700,000 in rolls of quarters and that is how I would need to pay. It shouldn't take more than a few days to count together, I hope we can make this work. Thank you!

Put a couple extra rolls of those quarters in a sock and beat him with it. You won't need more than $30-$40 for that card and anything else he has in his fantasy world.
  • WHat happened to his PSA 9 Mantle?

He said his account was hacked. When they did that they lowered his grade too. image

Seeing where the card is only in the internet world, so is the grade right?

<< <i>This is not the actual card, you are bidding on the picture of this card. >>

I love the fine print in his auction!!! Wasn't there a show of Judge Judy based on that actual circumstance?
  • Dear muggyman,

Hey man, I can't let you pick this item up in person, you live in NY and I live in GA, plus I don't really trust the whole pick up in person thing, after everything that happened on craigslist and all that.

  • This looks like the original Mantle - sold by Heritage in October 2009.

So the seller obviously bought it from Heritage two years ago and now he's getting rid of it

I don't see the problem here

a couple of things about this auction that I found myself actually lol.

Note the highest bidder's bid date?

    April first.

There is a bunch of things with this auction that also make me smile.

The seller's scan is the same same scan from the heritage auction. He wasn't savy enough to use the larger scan they provided or he just didn't want to sign up to view and snag it. The white spec (from scanner?)on Mickey's chin is the same on both pics. Unless the white spec is on the actual card? Also I noticed the picture file is named exactly the same on the Heritage as is on the ebay auction.

The seller's FB is sketchy. A grand total of 10 with 66.7% Positive feedback.

    "Alright guys, THE REAL DEAL!!!!"

First warning flag for me. Whenever I see this or something similar I automatically become leary. It is the same thing as someone telling me "Trust me".

"1952 Topps Mickey Mantle Rookie Card, NO RESERVE!!!"

I have no problem with this other then the annoying caps.

"I had this item listed yesterday, my account was hacked and I got the issue resolved. My account was hacked and in little writing it displayed that you are paying for the picture of the card and not the actual card. Furious and pissed off. It's just time to part ways with this card, I love it, but you just gotta let some things go."

Red flags! Account hacked! Is it still h@ck3d? Since the hacking now seller is furious and pissed off so it's time to part ways with this iconic card? Something about this whole bit doesn't sit right with me for some reason. I can't put my finger on it.

"If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Item will be shipped as soon as payment clears into my bank. PAYPAL ONLY!!!! Thank you and happy bidding."

Again I have no problem with this other then the annoying caps.

"On Apr-01-11 at 06:45:33 PDT, seller added the following information:

GUYS MAY I NEED REMIND YOU THIS IS NOT A REPRINT, IT IS IN MINT CONDITION, GRADE 8, AND IT'S PERFECT, NO BENDS, NO SCRATCHES, NOTHING!!!!"

LOL now the seller is using all caps. Tons of BS here. Grade PSA 8 is *not* perfect. image

C'mon guys, it's a Mantle RC with NO RESERVE!! That opening bid price of 675K is kind of like a reserve though, isn't it?
From what I can tell, 707 is the DOLLAR STORE compared to deans_cards. For what that guy charges, if I ever bought anything from him I would expect it to be delivered to me in a frickin' limo.

  • well the only problem I have is his user name rocky top Tennessee , to use this name you should have to live in Tennessee and does he have permission to use this name or does this fall under "public domain"?

plus his shipping rate is a little high (4.00) I mean he could ship it in a PWE for what 78 cents.

Also if I am buying a 100,000+ dollar card, I am picking it up in person or it better be a well known honest businessman/dealer and have a return privilege and a better scan of front & back of the card.

but 66.7% rating is pretty high, even ted Williams never batted .667 for a full season.

Ebay needs to ban this clown or sit up a sting operation and send this clown to prison were he can trade favors for that bar of soap laying on the shower room floor .

What is the maximum (dollar) amount that paypal will cover??

PS: I have a bridge in Brooklyn that I am looking to sell cheap, just make an offer. will send pics on request.

Now the high bidder from April 1 has put another bid in the auction. I guess he or she feels that $675,000.00 is going to go higher. Pretty crazy stuff.

Jude Judy didn't pull any punches. The defendant or lady tried to pull the "it states in the auction you're bidding on the picture of the phone" .
Judge Judy went off on her as a person and a mother. The lady then tried to say she was selling it for her boyfriend, who is a construction worker. Good ol'e Jude Judy told her to expect the IRS to come calling. funny stuff.

The problem was the scammer left some wording in regarding the weight of the item and Judy
    zeroed in on that.

Buying a picture of the item, brilliant.

    Steve
    Good for you.

    <<< $675,100.00 >>>

My guess is that after reading the feedback, the seller is no longer out there shopping for a Maserati. LOL

What would he have done? Shipped him a picture of the Mantle in an '8'....thinking someone would love to spend 6 figures on something like that?!?! Do none of these guys see any of their crimes as a jailable offense?!?!?!
