Confirming a submission loggage 'myth'...

PSA was in town here and I dropped of a sub in person. Talking to the very nice lady, she confirmed the following helpful tidbit. When subbing, it DOES make a difference to write the service level on the outside of your package. This is especially true for the shorter services levels, and they get priority loggage. Those packages w/o a service level on the outside get put to the back of the line more or less.

I sometimes forget, so good to confirm that this could explain the difference in log time for me.

  • isnt that dangerous to tip off others whats inside by writing on the outside of the package?

  • I always write "CLUB" on the outside of my packages and they are usually logged in within 1 day after delivery. My grades seem to pop fairly quick also.

I always write the service level on the outside of the box, because those are the rules. For example, I write "April C.C. Special #1". Always have quick loggage.

dont you think that any package going to PSA's PO box would be a bigger tip off??

I have very seldom (if ever) seen a delay "logging" the submission. It's the results that keep me on edge. image

It's not like you're writing "1952 Topps Mickey Mantle" on the outside of the box, which would likely clue in all the thieving feebs at the PO. I just pen : "April Club Special," on the box. WTF is that? Unless PO workers connect the PSA address ID, and want to lose a cushy gov't job by theft, I think you are pretty safe w/ that innocuous entry.

I use paypal multi ordershipping to send all my packages so I just put "PSA" for the first name and "CC Special" for the last name. seems to do the trick

Was this "myth" ever really in doubt? Did anyone really think that they just opened hundreds of boxes every day in some random order, logged them, and THEN looked at service levels?

I wasn't sure, but you hear folks talk about how it took a week or more to get their cards logged sometimes. Thought this might be the cause?

I'm convinced it is the cause. I'm meticulous about writing my sub type on the box when it's s CC special or a freebie, and I always log within 1-2 days of arrival.

I'd be tempted to send an empty package to one of my relatives with "1952 Mickey Mantle Baseball Card" on the side of it just to see if it actually got delivered undamaged.
