Manchester v Chelsea - today - updated

Spurs will visit the intimidating Bernbeau Stadium in Madrid (LIVE FSC 2:30)
Madrid are stacked with stars and Spurs are gutted with injuries - this one will most probably go one way.
UPDATE - Real Madrid 4 Tottenham 0
Inter Milan 2 Schalke 5
Chelsea will host Man. United at Stamford Bridge while Barcelona will play Shaktar Donensk in Spain.
Congratulations to REAL SALT LAKE in winning their Concacaf Champions League semi-final last night. Going down to the "Monster Cave" in Costa Rica. Watching last night it was the first time that an a MLS club did not get pushed around, intimidated and cheated in Central America. The boys took the fight to Saprissa and not face one of the two Mexican clubs in the other semi-final.

<< <i>Forget that. How about Schalke!? >>
I think Schalke is underachieving in the Bundesliga but taking scalps in the Champions League. Fired manager Magath but they still got players.
Could be the dark horse in the whole thing !
Did you see AC Milan dismantle Inter over the weekend ?

Who will shine ? DROGBA ? ROONEY ? ANELKA ? BERBATOV ? LAMPARD ? CHACHARITO ? ESSIAN ? NANI ? LUIZ ?
I kidd. Wish I could catch more Premier League games, never get the chance to see them live. Need to learn how to use my DVR.
The upset in the wings is Shaktar vs. Barcelona.

I FEEL YOUR PAIN - but nearly as bad as my Liverpool who have struggled for over a decade. Bad player purchases and poor management has led to a corroding of a once great club.

The key difference here is that Inter won the Trebel last year. And they have Eto'o, Sjneider, Maicon, etc. Although one thing we DO share, I suppose, is the residual influence of that nutbag Rafa.
Great games coming up today. From a football standpoint Barca/Shaktar should be better than Chelsea/MU, but I imagine the latter will be more interesting if only because of the two teams' profiles and reputations. Go Blues!

Interesting
Hopefully, the new Liverpool signings will start to pay off soon ...
I'll be switching between games for sure ...
<< <i>Yeah. We can both be glad that Rafa is no longer coaching either team.

The Liverpool situation has become just a total freaking wreck. Agger done for the year, Johnson out, StevieG perpetually gimpy, Joe Cole devolving into a bust of nearly historic proportions, the corpse of Jamie Carragher still roaming the back third... Honestly, I think it's going to take a while to sort this out. Hopefully we ditch Maxi, Jova, Spearing and Poulson this summer and go out and get some speed on the wings.

Sorry if this has already been posted- I haven't read any of the posts in this thread since this morning since I don't want to see the score of the Chelsea/MU game. I'm planning on watching it when it comes back on FSC at 11 tonight.
I feel a little ambivalent about Lebron's involvement, since I cannot stand Lebron but I love Liverpool. Hopefully he simply remains a silent partner.
American ownership is already with Liverpool, Aston Villa, Manchester United and Arsenal. The NBA connection has been around for a while as Kobe has been to both Arsenal and Barcelona regularly - Thierry Henry to Lakers and Knicks games.
I will not be surprised if COWBOYS owner Jerry Jones invests in a European club soon.
<< <i>Wait, I know. I think he's ineligible for Europe because he came in the Jan transfer window. Can someone confirm? >>
Hi Mike,
Luiz is Cup-tied because he started the season for Benfica (who also played in the CL this year) and played in some CL matches for them during the group stage.
<< <i>Wow. I thought Chelsea would break through at some point, but I guess it wasn't to be. At this point it's clear that The Blues should have broken the bank and gone out and purchased a centre-forward in the January transfer window. Oh wait.... >>
Yup - Torres has played 9 games and scored zero goals for Chelsea. Luis Saurez 6 games / 2 goals for Liverpool. (unfortunately, he too was cup tied having already played for Ajax)
Already had my birthday gift - Liverpool 3 Man. City 0 (Andy Carroll with 2 goals) - I know this is going to be a sore spot with my Chelsea friends - but Liverpool has really gotten the better of this deal (Torres no goals 11 games)
In other news - American Stan Kronke(Colorado Rapids owner) buys the majority shares in Arsenal - making 5 American owners in the Premier League - Arsenal join Aston Villa, Liverpool, Manchester United and Sunderland.
TheHun, why the need to prove you're better than everyone?

Starting Torres over Drogba ?
This may note be the Blues year.

Since they're out of every competition now, I think that's a little bit of an understatement.

<< <i>They're like a video game villian. I hate United. ALWAYS score at the end of the half. UGH. >>
What's frustrating is that this isn't even a very good MU team on paper, and yet if it wasn't for Real and Barca we'd be looking at the very real possibility of this MU team winning the freaking Treble this year. With Tevez out MU should walk though the FA Cup, and Arsenal will continue to implode in the month to come, so we know the league is already wrapped up. It's just unbelievable how things have broken for this team, and with Chicharito and Valencia only getting better I'm afraid we're not going to lose this MU team anytime soon.
<< <i>I like Anceloti - I really do. but you have to wonder who is pulling the strings ?

I'm still trying to figure out why a washed-up Alex started over Boswinga. Yes, Boswinga makes some dumb mistakes, but Ivanovic as a right back? No thanks.
I'll give 100 to 1 that someone kicks a ball.
<< <i>so the odds on for Real Madrid meeting Barcelona ? >>
I think Real is all but through. If Spurs someone go through w/o Crouch in the lineup it will be an upset of historic proportions.
This, of course, sets up a whole host of Classicos for the next month. Life is good!
Zero atmosphere.
I was talkin bout boo.
Seriously though, he's a case and point.
<< <i>Nice try Trent, but Boo won't take you bait, he generally does not reply to a 9 year old.
c'mon Steve??? Are we gonna get it on? Nevermind, from now on I'm calling you Italianospewcrapocano.
