What should I do with collection of late 1980s stuff I've been offered?

The highlights are: 4 1989 Score Troy Aikman rookies, one 1989 Score Barry Sanders rookie, 10 1988 Fleer basketball unopened packs, 30-40 1989 Hoops David Robinson rookies, numerous Shaq and Mourning rookies, 1951 Bowman baseball reprint set in sheets, T206 reprint set in sheets, 1953 Archive set in sheets, 1989 Upper Deck baseball set with decent Griffey rookie, unopened wax box of Andy Griffith cards, 1990 and 1991 Maxx sets of Race Cards, three small Noaln Ryan 5714 KO plates, and probably ten boxes of late 80s and early 90s sets of football, baseball, and basketball. Would I get hurt if I offered $200 for everything? I am a vintage collector and don't know about this stuff. It looks like a lot of yard sale stuff to me.

    $75 to $100
  • Stuff I love!

The archive set is about $20, not sure on the other reprints, you should be able to pull atleast 10-20, the Aikmans probably 25-30, sanders get to 15-20 for a nice looking one. I pull about $1 out of standard shaq/mounring rookies each. You should be able to pull about $30-40 out of the 89 UD set, depending on the 80's and 90's sets that would be the "deal breaker", the packs and other stuff is "meh" The sets depending on what they are can pull depending on the errors and whatnot they have in them, look for the Thomas no name, and Ripken F-face variations.

Anyway $200 is a decent offer from a collector standpoint, if you are looking to resell I'd probably go $150 perhaps lower to the 100 range

aren't the 88 Fleer Basketball packs (if legit) probably the most valuable of the lot??

If they are the 88/89 Fleer then BBCEX has them for $15 a pack.

Realistically it would be difficult to put them anywhere near that much without being a complete/sealed box

realistically they will pull between 3-10 each depending on how long you care to sit on them.
  • At $100, you should easily double your money.

Thanks for all your thoughts. They have been helpful. It is nice to know that I can come here and get your thoughts and comments even though the collection is of little value.

Hold some sort of giveaway on here in which I win some worthless packs to open and remind me of my childhood and all the money wasted on junk 80s and 90s cards.
  • I don't know the condition of cards, but here are my resale value thoughts.

    4 Aikman's and Sanders $20 to $40
    UD set $50 to $80
Wax boxes conservative at $5 a pop
    88 BSktb packs $5 each
    Robinson's lot $50
    Shaquille and Mourning lot $60
    KO plates $10? Each
    Reprint set $20 from pdub

I bet if you sold them all in lots or about 10 listings you could get $300 to $500 in auctions. Start them with a .99 bid.

Heck if you don't want the lot PM me and let's work a deal. I love taking $2 to $5 cards and turning them into $20 or $30 cards,

Good luck with whatever you do. Shaq cards will and are starting to heat a bit. JMO
