I am always interested to watch the trend on this card. There is currently a PSA 5 on Ebay that looks incredible. What is everyone's opinion on this card as we move forward? Does it continue to trend sideways or is there an upward movement in the near future? People drop some serious dime on this card! Is this done as an investment, or do some people buy because they can?

Both. It is an iconic card that everyone would love to own at least once in their lifetime.

I didn't know 52 Mantles were trending sideways....high end examples seem to go up up up......to answer your final question, I don't know anyone that drops 10K+ on a baseball card "only" because they can.

My meaning "because they can" has to do with their income or wealth. Yes it does seem this card hasn't increased or decreased for the past year or two. I am sure you can find specific occasions, but in general, this is the case.

I wish my '53 Mantle would be viewed as an "investment card". Maybe I can scratch off the "3" in the '53, draw a 2 on it and pass it off for a '52.....???

1953's are as well....last time I checked, they aren't selling for chump change!

Has anyone checked out that PSA 5 on ebay. I think it's the best 5 I have seen and the centering is very nice.
