Cherrypicking Ike's

Hello World image

so i bought a small hoard of ike's today, and i'm wondering what varieties are out there. all i know about are the '72 T2's, the differences in the 76's, the rare silver planchets... um, what else is there to look for? any known DDO's or anything? thanks image!

there's a Hobby adage that reads like this-----Buy the book and then the coin. i don't think it needs an explanation. most collectors have at least a modest "library" of references and if Eisenhower Dollars interest you enough to buy a small hoard i think you should buy a book to help you, there's too much for a thread like this to explain.

There are literally a butt load of Doubled Dies available for the Eisenhower Dollar. Both Obverse and Reverse. Some quite dramtic and others just barely discernable.

    There are PegLegs.

    There are Talon Heads.

    There are Die Clashes.

    There are Sintered Planchets.

    Just a bunch.

Headover to The IKE Groups Web Page and browse the Forums. There's more than enough information to keep you busy for weeks.

I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

    Welcome!

Cangrats on the FEV! They are not that easy to find.
Check out the FEV for an D/D RPM (there are (2) in the FEV's). Also check for a DDO.
Kind of like a Variety within a Variety.....image
