Bi-centennial Set

How do you tell if you have the silver 3 piece set? I've got the dollar, half, and quarter in cello with the S mm. I think there were both flavors clad and silver. If it is sliver, is it 90% or 70%? Easy questions for many on here. Thanks in advance.
A 1943 copper Lincoln will still only buy a gumball out of the machine, but you can purchase the machine and the store with that same cent.

    hey bro

the 76 bicentenial 3 peice was 40%, the silver sets that is.

I have one in a square like folder small, the cert tells its 40%, they did not make
90% ikes that year, so I doubt the other coins would be 90, and mint would not release
a set saying silver if the quater and half were not

hope that helps, i can show ya a pic if ya want?

  • Thanks for the info. My set looks pretty whimpy in the cello, compared to yours. I was hoping for higher content, since I didn't see the copper seam on the edge. 40% is better than nothing though.

Edited to add: mine is the strip set.

Really, the 1982 George Washington 50C was the first US Mint 90% silver coin after 1964. image
  • The 1976 3 piece sets were only struck in 40% silver with the S mintmark. The only cupro-nickel clad S mint coins were in the 6 coin proof sets of 1975 and 1976.
