1913 D/D Buffalo Type 1

Is there such a variety?

If so, does it carry any premium?

The Wexler, Pope and Flynn book lists an RPM D/D for the 13-D although it's unclear whether it is for a Type 1 or Type 2. Little or no premium. Your photo shows a clearer doubling than that in the book.

Looks like machine doubling to me.

What is pictured here is not a D/D RPM
Some coins are just plain "Interesting"

This is from someone who would know (as well as JRocco). So despite the fact that the positioning of the second D is similar to that in the Wexler book, I should correct my statement to no premium at all. Lot of machine doubling on Buffalos.

I agree, likely machine doubling, perhaps with some die fatigue thrown in. It's kind of neat with the die cracks/scratches. I have one just like it image

    Enjoy!
