1943-S Washington - Large S and Small S

I just purchased a mixed BU roll of Washington quarters. Inside I found 10 1943-S quarters, half with a small S and half with a large S. Cherrypickers makes a passing mention that the large S is common, but makes no mention of the small S. Anyone know anything about these. From my purchase, 5 of each, I would presume the small S quarters are common too.

While I would not doubt the existence of different type mintmarks- as they are common from this era- the examples you have shown appear to be the same style mintmark with different depth of punching or different appearance due to die polishing.
