First off - this is an awesome strip! I'm a big fan of multi sport sets, so this one really appeals to me. Strip cards are tricky, because there are lots of variations, but this appears to be a W512 strip from 1926.

Here's one that was auctioned off in 2005 for $471 (which seems like a bargain to me). 2005 Auction of a similar item If the Ruth is in good condition - you could probably fetch at least $471 just for it. According to VCP the Ruth (in PSA 7) averages about $475.

    Hope that helps ya out.

    Thanks Jeff,
Do you think its better to sell as a sheet or single?Did you handcut those your self?
    Thats a sweet Ruth 9!

I'm sorry, I should have clarified - that was not my Ruth card. I just wanted to find a slabbed example so you could see the label.

To answer your question - I think it's totally up to you, but if the cards are in great shape and you know what you're doing (when cutting them) - you could probably sell the well-cut individual cards for a lot more than the sheet. I have one intact sheet of boxing strip cards that I will probably keep intact. I guess it depends on the buyer. For someone who collects multi sport sets - they might like to have it intact. With that said - if someone is strictly a baseball card collector - they'd probably rather have the Ruth separate. It's also more appealing to some to separate the strips, because you'd then be able to have them slabbed.

Are you looking to flip this or hang on to it?

  • I've owned many Strip cards. My advice is do not cut them out. Full strips are rare, and have a premium if major stars are on them.

Besides if you cut one a little short the Ruth can go from a PSA 5 to an Authentic.

  • Morning,
And I disagree with the member saying that cutting it up will make the individual ones will make it worth more than whole. It will make one card worth more and the most of the rest low dollar commons.

Classic case of the Whole is worth more than the sum of the Parts!!!!!!!!!

Never, I mean Never, Cut up a sheet like that.................Do you know how rare that is? How much is the ask price?

    I am interested as well!!!!!

For $350 - I'd pull the trigger on that. In my opinion, I think you could make a decent profit at that price.
