Stealth security at a local B&M

bestdaybestday Posts: 4,242 ✭✭✭✭
While checking out the a local B&M today ..I saw a sight to behold.. A male walked into the store with a plastic pail and some wash rags.Out of the pail, he pulls out 15-20 PCGS Gold - Double Eagles and Saints, to sell to the B&M dealer.
Do other dealers operate with such stealthiness ? This person did end up selling the whole lot , after some back and forth haggling

It's the same at coin shows. Some people pull very expensive coins out of their pockets or brown paper bags!

Next time he could bring them to the shop inside a vacuum cleaner.

Coins, cash and other valuables are best concealed in places people would least expect. A paper bag that looks like someone's lunch works better than a sack with a $ sign on it

I feel the same way about security at coin shows. Attentive, inconspicuous surveillance works a lot better than a bunch of thugs terrorizing people at the front door trying to act tough.

    I dress down on purpose.

I've had people go to sit down next to me on the bus and decide to sit somewhere else.

I take that as "plan working."

As a professional Nature Photographer I have had to park my truck in many tourist traps where many cars are broken into. Kinda scary leaving 20K worth of photography equipment in my truck when I go on a hike. So my solution is to look like a vagabond, drive an old truck, and literally place trash, (ie fast food wrappers) all over the front of the truck. I don't have a bumper sticker that says "I stop for photos".
